In my sophomore year, I’ve had the incredible privilege of working as a Global Connect intern with the school of social sciences. This role allowed me to understand the importance of educating our youth about the multitude of social and global issues that are relevant to everyone.
Unfortunately, the school of social sciences has halted Global Connect operations at UCI leaving students from high schools all over Orange County unable to access UCI’s resources. As President, I want to bring back a program that is similar to Global Connect, but expand it to include not only Global and Social issues, but also ones concerning STEM, Arts, Humanities, and Business. I believe providing high schoolers with these fields will better equip them for life after college (preferably at UCI haha).

I also plan on establishing a mentorship program where high school students are able to receive support from university students (in collaboration with our university’s admission staff) so that they can better navigate college applications. From personal experience, I remember how hard it was to work through all the different college documents with no help from my high school, and I’d wish that I had support from people who were well versed in the resource and process. Hence, this program will level the playing field for high school seniors who may not have the resources or access to achieve their best college application potential.

TL;DR:
