The Physical and Spiritual Health Commission is a new addition to the Office of the President which I am most excited for. Although mental health struggles like anxiety and depression are real issues that need to be addressed, I am a strong believer that if a person doesn’t even get enough sleep, nutrition, and sunlight they aren’t even giving themselves a fighting chance. Hence, this commission will share resources on topics such as nutrition, fitness, stress management, alcohol/drug use, and sexual health, and open open a space safe for students to discusss these topics.
This commission will also be responsible for promoting mindfulness and spirituality. This will be done through hosting events that teach students about strategies they can implement in their daily lives such as meditation and exercise that can improve their quality of life. The commission will also host meditation sessions as well as fun recreational fitness related activities like hiking and ARC socials.
